Pornhub: Banning porn content on the Internet has become a challenge for the government. In October last year, the Indian government banned 857 porn sites, including Pornhub. Users did not like this decision of the government. However, users found a new way and the use of porn websites through VPN (virtual private network) increased by 400%.

Ban was done after the High Court order
Following the High Court order, the government had banned 857 porn websites, saying their content was immoral and obscene. After this, the Department of Telecommunications had written a letter to the leading Internet service providers in the country, directing them to discontinue access to these websites. The letter said that the content of porn websites is immoral and obscene according to Article 19 (2) of the Constitution.

Viewers have found a new way (VPN service)
After the ban was implemented, access to these porn websites for users of other telecom operators including Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea was discontinued. On the other hand, users not only criticized it on social media platforms but also started accessing ban websites through virtual private networks (VPNs), proxies and other tools.
