What is NPR
NPR will be made under the Citizenship Act 1955 and the Citizenship (Issue of Citizens Registration and National Identity Card) Rules 2003 at the local level i.e. sub-district, district and state level. It is necessary for every citizen of the country to enroll in it. The aim is to create a comprehensive database of citizens residing in the country. This database will be created on the demographic and biometric basis.
Difference between NRC and NPR
National Citizenship Register i.e. NRC - Through this, illegal citizens will be identified.
NPR - Any resident residing in an area for 6 months or more will have to register NRP who want to stay at that place for the next 6 months, they also have to give their information under it.
