CAA: During the Jaipur Literature Festival, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had said that if the CAA route leads to NRC and NPR then it would be a complete victory for Mohammad Ali Jinnah. His statement has been criticized by BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao.
BJP spokesperson has said that Shashi Tharoor is saying that if Jinnah's ideology is reviving in the country then he should ask this question to his leader Rahul Jinnah (Rahul Gandhi). Rahul Gandhi and his family have done politics of partition in the country which Jinnah once did.
Shashi Tharoor said - Jinnah's thoughts are already winning
During the Jaipur Literator Festival, Shashi Tharoor said that because of the CAA, Jinnah's ideas about the concept of the country are already winning in India, but the option is still available. He said, 'I will not say that Jinnah has won, rather I will say that Jinnah is winning. Even now the country has the option to choose between Jinnah and Gandhi's idea of the country.
Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor said that Jinnah's logic of adopting any religion as the basis of nationalism has been adopted in the CAA, whereas Gandhi's view was that all religions are equal. He said, 'On CAA you can say that one step will give a boost to Jinnah. But if the next step will be NPR and NRC, then you believe that Jinnah has completely won.
BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao: If Shashi Tharoor is saying that the Jinnah philosophy is taking roots once again, then, he should be addressing this question to his leader Rahul Jinnah. It is Rahul Gandhi and his entire family which pursued divisive politics just as Jinnah did. pic.twitter.com/BF41v06dsr— ANI (@ANI) January 27, 2020
Never been asked before where your parents were born: Shashi Tharoor
Tharoor said, 'Never been asked where your parents were born before. The data-gathering employees were never allowed to question questionable citizenship. The use of dubious citizenship terminology is in NPR and it is purely a BJP discovery.
He further said that if one walks around the country like an employee who interviews all the citizens or identifies people with suspected citizenship, then it should be assured that which Indians are going to come under the purview of citizenship.
Shashi Tharoor said that theoretically there will be only one community which is not in the CAA and if that happens then it is Jinnah's victory. Wherever he (Jinnah) would be, he would point here and say that look, I was right in 1940. We are a separate country and Muslims need their own country because Hindus cannot do justice to them.
