Dhawan suffered a shoulder injury in the last match of the ODI series against Australia on Sunday. Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first in the third match. Dhawan was injured while fielding in the 5th over during Australia's innings.

Shikhar Dhawan walked out of the ground after being injured in the 5th over during Australia's innings. Yuzvendra Chahal was seen fielding on the field in place of Dhawan. While giving information on Dhawan's injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India had said that he has been sent for an X-ray after the injury.
New Zealand tour of India
Ind vs NZ: The Indian cricket team will now embark on a tour of New Zealand after the ODI series against Australia. India has to play in T20, ODI and Test series in New Zealand. The tour will begin with a 5-match T20 series. The first match is to be played on 24 January. The Indian team has been selected for the T20 series while the team is yet to be selected for the ODIs and Tests.
